IIT JAM 2017

About IIT JAM: IIT JAM is for post graduate course (Integrated Ph.D. Degree Programmes at IISc Bangalore and M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech., M.Sc.-M.S.(Research)/Ph.D. Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor’s Degree Programmes at IITs). Candidates need to fill the application form and can apply for the entrance examination. This is university entrance examination where anyone can apply for the entrance examination and can get admission in M.Sc course.

 

 

Eligibility Criteria for IIT JAM 2017
To get eligible in IIT JAM entrance examination and study in Indian Institute of Technology candidate are required to meet the following eligibility criteria:


IISc Bangalore:
• 60% or more in qualifying degree (50% for Sc/ST)


IIT Guwahati:
• (a) 55% marks or 6.0 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off, in Major/Honors and Pass in all other subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries or
• (b) 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off, taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined, for Un-Reserved/OBC(NCL) Category Candidates; and at least (a) 50% marks or 5.5 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off, in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, or (b) 55% aggregate marks or 6.0 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off, taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined, for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates, in the qualifying degree.


IIT Indore:
• A minimum of 60% marks for GEN/OBC (55% for SC/ST) category in aggregate or as specified by the university/institute OR (ii) A minimum CPI of 6.0 for GEN/OBC (5.5 for SC/ST) category on the scale of 10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 10 (for example 4.8 for GEN/OBC category (4.4 for SC/ST) on a scale of 8) OR (iii) A first class as specified by the university/institute.


IIT Jodhpur:
• A minimum of 60% marks for GEN/OBC (55% for SC/ST) category in aggregate or as specified by the university/institute OR (ii) A minimum CGPA of 6.5 for GEN/OBC (6.0 for SC/ST) category on the scale of 10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 10 (for example 5.2 for GEN/OBC category (4.8 for SC/ST) on a scale of 8) OR (iii) A first class as specified by the university/institute.


For all other IITs:
• At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for Un-Reserved/OBC Category Candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree
• Candidate’s age should be more than 20 years can apply for the entrance examination.

 

Application Process in IIT JAM 2017
Candidates who are interested to give IIT JAM needs to fill the application form and pay the registration fees. Candidate need to follow the mentioned below steps:
• The online application starts from September 2, 2016
• Candidates need to fill the application form by mentioning the personal details
• General/OBC category candidates (Male & Others) need to pay Rs. 1500/- (One Test Paper) &Rs. 2100/- (Two Test Papers) and Rs. 750/- (One Test Paper) &Rs. 1050/- (Two Test Paper) for Female/SC/ST/PwD category candidates as application fees
• The last date to fill the application form will be by October 16, 2016

 

Registration Fees of IIT JAM 2017
The registration fees for IIT JAM where general/OBC category candidates (Male & Others) need to pay Rs. 1500/- (One Test Paper) &Rs. 2100/- (Two Test Papers) and Rs. 750/- (One Test Paper) &Rs. 1050/- (Two Test Paper) for Female/SC/ST/PwD category candidates as application fees. Candidate can pay this application fee through SBI E-challan.

 

Age Limit for IIT JAM 2017
Candidate’s age should be more than 20 years to apply for IIT JAM.

 

Exam Pattern for IIT JAM 2017
IIT JAM Entrance Examination will be conducted in March 23, 2016. The syllabus and exam pattern are mentioned below:
• There are multiple choice questions
• Questions will be related to English language and Comprehension, Current Affairs, General Knowledge and Legal Awareness and Aptitude.

 

Admit Card for IIT JAM 2017
The hall ticket of the candidate will be available on the official site of Indian Institute of Technology. After the announcement of admit card the candidate able to download the card by filling up the application number. Candidate can download and take the print out of their hall ticket. The admit card will be available a week prior to the examination date.
Note: Admit card will not be send by post, candidates are supposed to download the admit card from the official site only.

 

Results of IIT JAM 2017
Every year the entrance examination is conducted where the results are declared by March 23 2017.

The below mentioned are important dates for IIT JAM 2017:
• The online application starts from September 2, 2016
• The last date to fill the application form will be by October 16, 2016
• Admit card will be provided a week prior to the examination
• Entrance examination will be conducted by February 7, 2017
• Results will be declared by March 23 2017
• Counselling process will start by April 2017

 

Counselling Process of IIT JAM 2017
Shortlisted candidates are supposed to login in to the official site and check their counselling dates.  Selected candidates have to carry their original mark-sheets and certificates at the time of counselling and if they fail to carry their original certificates and mark-sheets their admission will be cancelled. Downloaded mark-sheets and certificates are not allowed. The counselling process would start tentatively by April 2017.
