Objective: The objective of this certified programme in accounting is to create job opportunities in basic accountancy for candidates.

The course contents for the above programmes is given below:

Basic Level

Unit 1: Fundamentals in Book Keeping (8 Credits)

Introduction to Book Keeping – definition, objectives, importance, Accounting cycle, journal, ledger, Cash Book, Petty Cash Book & its Maintenance, Bank Reconciliation, etc.

Unit 2 : Communication for Accounting Assistants (8 Credits)

Introduction of Communication, Types of Communication, Barriers in Communication, Report & Letter Drafting etc.

Unit 3 : Basics of Computers (8 Credits)

Introduction of Computers, Generation of Computers, Number System, Computer Languages, Programmes, MS-Office etc.

Unit 4 : Quantitative Techniques for Assistants (8 Credits)

Introduction to Quantitative Techniques, Central Tendency, Measure of Dispersion, Correlation Regression, Time Series, Probability etc.

Unit 5 : Fundamental Economics (8 Credits)

Introduction to Economics, Demand and Supply function, Production and cost function, Monopoly, Perfect Competition, Imperfect Competition, Monopolistic Competition etc.

 Certified Level

  1. Basics of  Finance and Accounting                                       8 Credit

Elements of Accounting, Partnership Accounts, i.e. admission, retirement and dissolution, Preparation of Financial Statement, Business Finance, Finance functions, Cost of Capital, Capital structure, etc.

  1. Elements of Costing                                                                  8 Credit

Introduction of Cost Accounting, Elements of Cost, Cost Sheet, Job and Process Costing, Output costing etc.

  1. Economic Legislation – I                                                          8 Credit

Contract Act, Sales of Goods Act, Negotiable Act, Payment of Bonus Act, Industrial Dispute Act, Industrial Employment (Standing Order) Act etc.

  1. Auditing                                                                                       8 Credit

Introduction to Auditing, Role and Duties of Auditors, Planning of Auditing, Vouching, Types of Audit, Cost Audit etc.

5.         Basics of  Taxation                                                                    8 Credit
Concept of Taxation, Capital Gains, Income from Salaries, Income from Other Sources, Tax Authorities etc.

Fellow Level

  1. Management Accountancy and Control                               8 Credit

Introduction of Cost Accounting, Elements of Cost, Standard Budgeting, CVP Analysis, Cost Sheet, Job and Process Costing, Output costing etc.

  1. Financial Management and Advance Accounting              8 Credit

Working of Stock Markets, Debt and Equity Instruments, Mergers and Acquisitions, Fund flow and Cash Flow Analysis, and International Accounting standards, etc.

  1. Project Management and Financial Institutions                  8 Credit

Introduction to Project Management, Preparation of Project Reports, RBI functions, Commercial Banks, IDBI, IFCI, ICICI etc.

 

At the end of Certified Level each candidate has to undergo practical training of 100 hours of Book Keeping and preparation of Project Report under any organization or a firm.

Each subjects comprises of 80hours teaching (i.e. (10 x 80)  800 hours + 100 hours of practical training = 900 hours + (3 x 80 = 240) .)
